Nombre del trabajo: COVID-19 pandemic and summer holidays planification by domestic market – A cross country analysis: Switzerland and Uruguay
Resumen
This paper discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the vacation planning for the summer season 2020 for Switzerland and 2020/21 for Uruguay. On the basis of a survey carried out in each country at the beginning of these summer seasons, the study analyses the vacation desire of the domestic market of both countries. The desired of vacation of is significantly higher for Uruguay case than for Switzerland one. The study analyses the link of the desire of travelling with Covid risk perception and probable travel barriers along with semi-professional characteristics of respondents. The research uses general linear methods allowing to handle as explanatory variables either classification variables or continuous variables. Results were obtained in line with other similar studies. The study provides insights of the behaviour of domestic tourists from Uruguay and Switzerland under an unprecedented pandemic situation. It is expected that it can offer working guidelines to promote the recovery of the tourism sector and resilience policies in the face of possible future crises.
